When it comes to your business, you want to know what makes it unique. You should also know how it started and where its founders came from. But some companies are not as old or started by someone with a long history in their field. If that’s the case with your company, don’t worry! We can still get a sense of what makes us unique in a few different ways:
We are a grocery chain that provides locally grown and organic food. Our technology team creates apps to make shopping more convenient. We’re a family-owned business, and we’re the largest grocery chain in the country.
Figure out what makes you unique
It’s time to look inward and figure out what makes you unique. What makes your business stand out? What do customers come to you for that they can’t find elsewhere?
In this section, we’ll cover:
A. Identifying your company’s core values and mission statement
B. Finding the best way to convey your message to customers
C. Finding ways to incorporate this message into how you run the business day-to-day
What do you offer your customers?

What makes you unique as a company?
What do you want to be known for?
How can we help our customers solve their problems and achieve their goals, while being different from other companies in the same industry?
Our company was founded by two friends, Bill Smith and Frank Jones. While working as stock boys in a local grocery store, they dreamed of opening their own store someday. After college, Bill worked his way up through the ranks of the grocery business. When he finally got to be general manager of a large supermarket chain, he took on full responsibility for opening new stores and improving existing stores’ performance. He launched many successful locations that are still in operation today. Frank also worked as an assistant manager at several different supermarkets before becoming a regional vice president at one of them (which later merged with another company).

As the years went on, our company became popular with both customers and investors alike.

After college, Bill worked his way up through the ranks of the grocery business. His first job was as a stock boy for a local grocery store. He quickly learned about all aspects of the business, including customer service and inventory management.
Several years later, he founded Smith’s Grocery Store in Southern California with his wife Betty. The couple worked side by side in their new endeavor until they had three children: two girls and one boy. Their son became very interested in computers after he received his first computer as a child and soon started learning to program them himself!
Making it Big
You love to shop, but you hate all the people around you. So what can you do?
If you’re Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Supermarket Grocery Supply Co., Inc., headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and with over 150 locations throughout the United States and Canada (and counting), then the answer is simple: create a business that offers products for sale without any customers around.
That’s what Bill did. In 1995 he started up a small grocery store in his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania with some friends. He stocked it with only non-perishable items like canned goods, bottled drinks and snacks—foods that could be neatly stacked on shelves without needing to be moved around by customers. The store was an instant success; customers loved being able to find everything they needed under one roof! Within five years the business had expanded into other areas of retail food sales such as meat processing plants where they raised their own livestock on farms owned by Bill’s family members outside Scranton which provided fresh meat products directly into local supermarkets across northeast Pennsylvania through their delivery trucks running several times daily each week during harvest season when there were no crops planted yet due to lack of sunlight available during winter months so there weren’t any lettuce leaves available at farms nearby anyway since farmers grew them indoors using artificial lighting instead which made growing seasons shorter than normal because many plants need more sun than just daylight hours alone provides naturally plus artificial light sources cannot provide enough UV rays necessary

A New Direction
Bill Smith, founder of our company, started his career as a stock boy in a local grocery store. He worked his way up through the ranks of the grocery business and eventually founded our company in 1980.
Bill’s philosophy was that if we provided quality products and services at an affordable price to customers, they would continue to come back for more. It was this simple idea that made us successful from the beginning.
Looking for ways to further improve the quality of life for customers, Bill has recently begun working with our technology team to create new applications designed to make food shopping even more convenient.
For example, Bill has been working with our technology team to create new applications designed to make food shopping even more convenient. Our checkout system allows customers to scan their purchases with their phones, which means they can skip the line and go straight home!

By knowing how you and your business started, you can discover what makes you unique.
Knowing how your business started, who you are as a person and what makes you unique can help when it comes to creating an effective marketing strategy. If you don’t know where to start with this kind of research, here are some questions that will help:
- How did I get into my line of work? This is where traditional research comes in handy. You can use tools like Google Scholar or the Library of Congress to find out what has been written on the topic before. Then take those results and see if they match up with your own experiences. A good place to start is by looking at old yearbooks or family photo albums—if there’s an aspect of your work that was passed down through generations, it might be worth investigating further!
- What’s my personal brand? Your personal brand should include both professional attributes (skills) as well as personal ones (values). For example, if someone is selling dog supplies online but also happens to love hiking with their fur baby companions every weekend then maybe trying something like: “Dog owners need more than just treats for their best friends; they also want snacks for themselves!”
