Yard Makeover Time Again?   A blog on how to create a new backyard space.

Introduction

If you are like me and love to be outside, a new backyard space can make it even more enjoyable. It is an easy step process in creating a backyard space.

Step 1

First, you need to decide what it is you want to do. The first step is to take a look at your yard and determine the best way for it to be transformed. Will you be building your own deck? Do you want a new fence? Or maybe just some new plants and flowers? Once you have an idea of what needs done in order for your backyard space to improve, then we can move on from there!

We don’t want anyone working too hard out here so I’ve put together a list of tools that will help make this job easier on everyone involved:

  • Shovels (for digging up old weeds) * Brooms (for sweeping up dirt) * A rake or two (to rake up leaves) * Weed/grass killer sprayer/bottle(soil should still have nutrients left in them after using them last year)

Step 2

  • Choosing a theme. Don’t be afraid to give your yard a little personality. Think of something that will make you smile every time you walk out the back door or sit on the patio.
  • Choosing a color scheme. There are so many options for color combinations, so don’t be afraid to experiment! Start with one color and then add others in small amounts, until you’ve got everything covered.
  • Choosing a style. This can really be anything from rustic chic all the way to modernist minimalism—just choose whatever works best for your space!
  • Choosing size and location of new features: The most important thing is that they fit into your landscape design seamlessly! When deciding where exactly things should go, consider how they’ll affect surrounding landscaping (if any) while still fitting into existing architecture (if any).

Step 3

Now that you’ve got your plan together, it’s time to get your hands dirty. This step will be the most fun and rewarding part of your project because this is where you get to see what it will look like when it’s finished! You can also make sure that everything is going smoothly with the digging, planting and watering process.

  • Choose the right plants for your yard – A good way to start planning out your garden is by thinking about whether or not certain plants will thrive in certain areas of soil and sunlight. For example, if you have hardy vegetables like broccoli or lettuce growing in one section near an area with high winds or rain fall then those vegetables won’t do as well as if they were planted further away from those conditions so choose wisely!
  • Planting tips – Make sure there’s enough space between all plantings so each plant has room for growth without being too crowded together; also make sure that each plant gets adequate amounts of water throughout its lifetime which may mean watering twice daily depending on how hot/dry it gets outside during different seasons (springtime vs wintertime).
  • Soil selection – If possible use compost instead of fertilizer since fertilizer tends not last very long whereas compost contains organic materials such as decaying plant matter mixed in with “green” wastes such as clippings from lawns–this combination helps fertilize naturally over time rather than having artificial chemicals added permanently onto top layers only

Step 4

Now that you’ve got the space, it’s time to add some fun. One of our favorite ways to decorate is with a water feature or pool.

  • Add a pergola: The perfect addition for summer gatherings and barbecues! It can also be used as an extension of your home’s interior space if you’re into that kind of thing.
  • Add a deck: If your yard has an area that needs more sun exposure, then consider adding one here! You’ll be rewarded with some fresh air while still enjoying all the benefits of being outside too!
  • Build out your patio: Build out your patio so that it’s more than just a place for eating and drinking—there should be seating around its perimeter as well as areas where people can relax under shade trees (or even choose not to).

Step 5

Now that you’ve got your space all cleaned up, it’s time to add some color. As a general rule of thumb, the more vibrant the color, the better—but don’t be afraid to go with neutrals if that’s what you’re feeling.

For example: If you want a space with lots of green and blue tones mixed together, try adding some plants like succulents or cacti (which are very easy to care for). Or if your idea is more naturalistic in nature then perhaps having an armchair by a window would work well? Or perhaps even just having one really big piece of artwork hanging on one wall would do wonders? The possibilities are endless!

Step 6

  • Add a fire pit.
  • Add a patio.
  • Add a garden (with flowers and herbs).
  • Build a shed for storage and/or tool usage (this is optional). If you don’t have the tools or space to store them, consider renting out space at a local community center or contacting your local Habitat for Humanity chapter to see if they’ll let you store some of your tools there while you work on the yard makeover project!

It is an easy step process in creating a backyard space.

Creating a backyard space is one of the easiest home improvement projects to take on. It can be done by anyone, regardless of age or skill level. There are many options to choose from; some are more expensive than others and some are more time consuming than others. Whether you have a lot of money or little time, there will be something for everyone!

Conclusion

Hopefully, we’ve made it easy for you to understand what a backyard makeover is. The steps listed above are just some of the things that you can do with your yard or garden. You can also change things up by adding new plants and flowers, or maybe even adding a pool! Just remember that the most important thing when it comes down to making changes in your space is knowing what will work best for you and creating something unique that fits your personality perfectly.
