garden hoe

Introduction

I love gardening. It’s my favorite way to relax and enjoy our land. I just wish that I could garden year-round. Unfortunately for us, here in South Carolina we have a very short growing season, so I can only garden from spring to fall. But there are things you can do to extend your growing season by getting ready for next year before winter comes!

To plant my garden, I used a garden hoe.

A garden hoe is a tool used for tilling and digging in soil. It can also be used for cutting through roots, vines, and other tough materials.

My favorite garden hoe is the long handled version.

I prefer long handled hoes. They’re easier to use, easier to store and transport and great for people with back problems. Long handles can also be used in rows as a walking tool or even like a push broom to sweep leaves from the path or push debris away from your feet.

The long-handled version of the garden hoe is the most useful for my garden. I have raised beds and small spaces where I want to work, so a long handle allows me to reach over those “walls” without straining my back. Long handles are also great for working in large areas without having to move the tool very far. The larger heads are also easier on my hands when using them for extended periods of time, particularly if you’re using it to dig or break up soil clumps before planting.

The long handle is also easier to use than a short handled one, especially if you have arthritic hands or back problems. It’s also more comfortable because it allows you to stand upright instead of bending over all day long when doing yard work like weeding or planting flowers in your backyard!
