It’s no secret that I love the outdoors. Whether I’m hiking a mountain or running down a sand dune, I’m usually outside in some way or another. That said, one of my favorite things about Las Vegas is that there are endless opportunities to get out and enjoy nature right here in our backyard!

The circumference of any circle is the distance from its center to any point on its edge. So, if you know the radius, you can find out how far it is from one side of the lake to another! The radius is almost exactly the same as the distance from one side to another: about 20 miles (22 kilometers). This means that Lake Tahoe’s surface area (area) is about 25% larger than its volume (depth), which isn’t surprising because lakes tend not to be perfectly round on top or flat below water level.
