Louis's Home Gardens 2009 (1 of 12): In early March, a Japanese willow, Salix chaenomeloides 'Mt. Aso', is already in bloom. The bush's pussies are the largest, hence the common name, 'Giant Pussy Willow.' In the weeks before the pussies themselves emerge, the large mahogany bud covers are a sophisticated curtain-raiser.
