East 49th Street, B (1 of 5)

East 49th Street, B (1 of 5): In the townhouse right next door, some entirely different strategies. At the right, an unusually high wall from the Twenties provides complete separation from that adjacent townhouse. At the left, the generously bulky plantings of the adjacent garden do the job easily. The pair of beds that flank the back gate (which leads out into the Common Garden in the Italian Revival gallery) are the only opportunity for horticultural variety.
